Clint Sorenson, CFA®, CMT® is the Co-Founder of WealthShield, LLC. For the last decade, Clint has been focused on innovative strategies for enhancing and accelerating the traditional investment landscape. He has developed several proprietary quantitative strategies that combine behavioral, fundamental and technical analysis for a truly holistic market view.

Proficient in a variety of areas, Clint’s work across WealthShield is diverse and broad-reaching. Clint oversees the development and maintenance of all asset allocation models for WealthShield. The purpose of his strategies is to equip advisors to successfully mitigate risk while attempting to maximize value over the long term.

In addition to his work at WealthShield, Clint is also a contributor to industry literature, providing content and insights to platforms including Forbes, Seeking Alpha, and The Resilient Advisor Podcast. Clint was recognized in 2018 as one of 40 financial professionals selected for the InvestmentNews 2018 40 Under 40 List1

Along with his partner Robert Leggett, Clint co-authored the 2015 book Invest to Prosper, a comprehensive guide to personal wealth and investing. Additionally, Clint authored several index methodologies that are tracked by exchange traded funds and accessible using direct indexing.

Clint is a past President of the CFA Society North Carolina, as well as a former board member of the CMT Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Market Technician.

Robert Leggett is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Financial Planner, and Managing Partner of WealthShield Partners, LLC. He is also a co-founder of WealthShield LLC. His career spans more than two decades in business, including extensive work in financial services, legal, tax, real estate and accounting which, together, give him the the diverse experience needed to manage and grow wealth in today’s marketplace. For more than 15 years, Robert has maintained the belief that proper asset allocation and risk management strategies add value and drive long term portfolio performance, and he takes this approach with WealthShield’s clients daily. 

Prior to joining WealthShield, Robert served as CEO of a $250 million family business. Before this role, Robert was the first Vice President of UBS in Raleigh, Vice President of Merrill Lynch in Cary, President/CEO of Leggett Stores in Danville and, first, an attorney at the regional law firm of Mays & Valentine. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Emory University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He earned his Juris Doctor from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.

As the Director of Research, David helps steer the strategic direction of the organization. David leads the investment team at WealthShield, LLC, which is focused on creating innovative investment solutions for the firm’s partners and clients. From research and white papers to portfolio and index creation, David and his team work to provide academically defensible and behaviorally palatable solutions that get investors to their financial goals.

Prior to joining WealthShield, David worked at the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer. His work included asset allocation research, performance reporting, risk management, and supporting the due diligence and investment processes of the NC Employee Pension Plan.

David earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a dual BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an active member of the CFA Society of North Carolina.

Caroline Leggett joined WealthShield, LLC in 2017 as part of its original launch team. As Director of Marketing, Caroline was responsible for creating and maintaining all of the firm’s internal marketing deliverables in addition to supporting the brand formation and content development for WealthShield’s clients. She also directly supported the company co-founder in all schedule coordination, event planning and client engagement to ensure the effective delivery of high quality service to the advisors WealthShield supports. Now as Director of Advisor Relations, Caroline oversees all steps of the advisor onboarding and integration process. In this dual project management and transition support role, Caroline works hand-in-hand with new advisors moving into the WealthShield model, as well as the platform team, vendors, custodians and partners. Once fully onboarded, Caroline then supports advisors’ growth and evolution on the platform, maximizing their knowledge, use and overall success. 

Prior to joining WealthShield, Caroline worked for Insight Global, an award-winning staffing company, and at both the North Carolina Legislature and London-based nonprofit Standing Together Against Domestic Violence. Caroline is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a BA in international studies, political science, and anthropology. She is an avid indoor cyclist and teaches spin classes in her free time

Victoria is the Operations Manager for WealthShield, LLC. She assists with the maintenance and utilization of our technological platforms, along with account maintenance, reporting, billing, and client services. Victoria’s focus is on serving our private investor clients.

Prior to joining WealthShield, LLC, Victoria spent three years at Envestnet | Tamarac in both operations and client service roles. As a Senior Client Service Specialist, she served as the CRM technical contact for a group of RIA clients representing tens of billions in assets. She also ideated and built targeted CRM processes to streamline business workflows and maximize client-side experiences. Here, she obtained her certification in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales. Before her operations roles, Victoria worked as an associate at Coleman Research, overseeing research and client services for institutional investors and management consultants.

Victoria is a graduate of Georgetown University and continues to serve in the school’s Alumni Admissions Network. She’s an avid traveler, having lived in South Africa and Turkey and visited countries in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, North and Central America, and the Caribbean. In her spare time, Victoria volunteers with the SPCA of Wake County.

As a Senior Investment Consultant for WealthShield, LLC, Max Rockwell focuses on developing client proposals and assisting the team with portfolio modeling. Additionally, Max works closely with a number of clients and partners, providing added customer support and relationship management. 

 Prior to joining WealthShield, Max was an Associate at Ayco, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs. Here, he worked with Ayco advisors, supporting them on a broad range of responsibilities including portfolio construction, client servicing, trades and general operations. Max has also worked at Fidelity in their workplace investing division.

Max holds an MBA and B.S. from Southern Methodist University. While at SMU, Max was a member of the soccer team and helped manage the Nancy Chambers Underwood Graduate Endowment portfolio. A long-time soccer player, he’s still an avid fan, always cheering the Mustangs on from home.

Before returning to North Carolina, Luke spent three years at UBS in New York as an Equity Research Associate Director, with a focus on Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) as well as Marine Transport and Refining equities. Here, his work included financial modeling, valuation, report generation and supporting all aspects of the research process.

Luke is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a B.S. in Finance. While at UNCC, Luke served as a Consumer Sector Analyst and Risk Management Officer for the UNCC Endowment Fund, overseeing performance attribution and security selection. He is an active member of the CFA Society of North Carolina.

As a Research Analyst for WealthShield, LLC,  JT works with the research team to assist in portfolio construction, qualitative research, due diligence, and proposal development. He also serves as a liaison between several of WealthShield’s clients to provide additional client support and relationship management.

Prior to joining WealthShield as a Research Analyst, JT was a Portfolio Manager with BOK Financial Private Wealth. His role included working with advisers to implement and monitor over $500MM of client assets to strategic asset allocations. He was also responsible for identifying and building custom fixed income portfolios for clients.

Prior to BOKF, JT was an Investment Analyst at CoBiz Wealth. His responsibilities included asset allocation research, manager due diligence, building fixed income portfolios and providing research support to a large cap equity SMA product.

JT graduated from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Accounting. He is a CFA charterholder. Outside of the office, JT is an avid golfer and a Minnesota sports fan.

Kayla Lonergan joined WealthShield, LLC as a Marketing & Operations Specialist in July of 2020. She is responsible for creating and managing marketing deliverables, content development, and branding for WealthShield, LLC. In addition, Kayla also provides operational support to the firm by assisting with account maintenance, reporting, and billing as needed.

Before joining the WealthShield team, Kayla was a Professional Recruiter for Insight Global, an award-winning national staffing company that specializes in the accounting, financial and engineering industries. She has also held a marketing role at LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton where she oversaw the development of retail marketing content, worked with design teams to brief upcoming promotional collateral, and identified and developed corporate partnership opportunities to build out future campaigns.

Throughout these experiences, Kayla has loved being creative and finding new ways to successfully leverage and appeal to a wider audience while helping to deliver a clear and professional brand. Kayla is excited to provide exceptional marketing services to WealthShield, and to foster business development and strategic growth initiatives that accelerate the firm’s engagement and success.

Kayla is a proud alumni of Penn State University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She currently lives in Raleigh, NC and is a dedicated Penn State football fan.

Charles Petrie, WealthShield’s Director of Enterprise Solutions, drives sales and servicing for large RIAs and financial advisors. By leveraging unique product development initiatives and a fully consultative approach to creating value for his clients and partners, Charles has cultivated a strong marketplace following with diverse customers from around the region and beyond.

Before joining WealthShield, LLC in April 2018, Charles was the Vice President of Petrie Consulting, providing distribution consulting to boutique asset managers and, overall, lending his expertise to the extended financial community. Prior, he was a Vice President at Sentinel Investments and a Regional Vice President at MFS. He began his career with the U.S. Navy, spending nearly eight years working with and aboard the CVN-69 (Dwight D. Eisenhower), a Naval aircraft carrier.

Charles is a graduate of Emmanuel College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Management. He is a former board member for the Frankie Lemmon Foundation, a Raleigh-based development center for learning impaired children.
